Returning to the ship

The Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal (CCLT) is centrally located on Trinity Inlet in the heart of the city and is easily accessible thanks to its excellent connection to the urban infrastructure. The immediate proximity to the business district and the regional transport hub allows guests a quick and uncomplicated arrival directly to the ship.

Airplane

Cairns Airport (CNS) is located just eight kilometers north of the port and is served from the DACH region via international hubs such as Singapore, Sydney, or Brisbane. The journey to the terminal takes about 15 minutes by taxi or rideshare provider; additionally, various shuttle services offer convenient direct connections from the arrival terminals to the port.

Auto & Bahn

The port is directly accessible via the Bruce Highway (A1) from the south and the Captain Cook Highway (A1) from the north, with secure long-term parking available at the terminal for around 12 AUD per day. Travelers by train use Cairns Central Station, which is about 1.5 kilometers away and is the terminus for the Spirit of Queensland from Brisbane, from where taxis allow for a short onward journey to the terminal.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight time and the time difference, a stay of at least one night in one of the hotels around the Cairns Esplanade or Wharf Street is recommended. Renowned establishments such as the Hilton Cairns or the Shangri-La are located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal and guarantee a particularly relaxed start to the cruise thanks to the short distances.

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Returning to the ship

Thanks to the central location of the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, you can return to your ship quickly and easily after your excursions. Finding your way is simple, as the port directly borders the city center and the popular waterfront promenade.

On Foot

Since the terminal is located directly on the edge of the city center, you can enjoy a relaxed walk back to the ship from the Cairns Esplanade or the Lagoon in less than ten minutes. The path leads along the picturesque waterfront promenade and is flat throughout as well as excellently signposted.

Taxi and Uber

You will find taxi ranks at central locations such as Abbott Street and in front of major hotels like the Shangri-La or the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino. In addition, fixed taxi ranks are available at popular excursion destinations such as Palm Cove, ensuring you arrive punctually and comfortably at the port entrance at the corner of Wharf Street and Lake Street.

Public Bus

The local Sunbus lines will take you from the northern beaches or the Botanical Gardens directly back to the central bus station in Lake Street. From there, you can reach the cruise terminal after a short five-minute walk and use the remaining time for a final look at the Trinity Inlet thanks to the short distances.
