The port of Fremantle serves as the maritime gateway to Perth and is home to the Fremantle Passenger Terminal at Victoria Quay, the largest cruise terminal in Australia. Thanks to its location directly at the mouth of the Swan River, the port is easily accessible from both the airport and downtown Perth.
Airplane
Perth Airport (PER) is located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Fremantle and is the central arrival point for guests from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The journey to the terminal takes about 35 to 45 minutes by taxi or a rideshare service like Uber, depending on traffic, and usually follows the Leach Highway or the Kwinana Freeway (State Route 2). For budget-conscious travelers, the Airport Line offers a train connection to Perth city center, from where the journey to the port is easily continued via the Fremantle Line.
Train
Fremantle Station is the most important hub for arrival by public transport and is served from Perth City in around 30 minutes via the Fremantle Line. The cruise terminal at Victoria Quay is only about 500 to 700 meters from the station and can be reached on foot in approximately 10 minutes. On many embarkation days, a free shuttle bus also runs every 20 minutes between the station and the terminal, which significantly facilitates the transport of heavy luggage.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight duration from Europe and the significant time difference, arriving two to three days before embarkation is highly recommended to start the cruise well-rested.
