Returning to the ship

Aitutaki is a jewel in the South Pacific that enchants cruise guests with its breathtaking lagoon and relaxed flair. Since there are no large cruise terminals, ships anchor off the coast and bring guests comfortably to the charming village of Arutanga by tender boat.

Airplane

Travel from the DACH region is primarily via long-haul flight to Rarotonga International Airport (RAR) in the Cook Islands, followed by a short domestic flight to Aitutaki Airport (AIT). Aitutaki Airport (AIT) is located about 5 kilometers northeast of Arutanga and is served several times daily by Air Rarotonga from Rarotonga, with the flight taking around 50 minutes. Due to the vast distance of over 16,000 kilometers from Germany, a staggered journey with stopovers is recommended.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Aitutaki Airport (AIT), you can easily reach your accommodation or the meeting point for embarkation. Since there is no public bus system on Aitutaki, it is advisable to organize transfers in advance. Many hotels and resorts offer a pickup service from the airport, and private transfer companies are also available to ensure a smooth transition to the tender point in Arutanga.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

For a relaxed start to your South Seas cruise experience, a pre-night stay on Aitutaki or potentially on Rarotonga is recommended. Given the long journey from Europe, this allows you to comfortably adjust to the time difference and jet lag and enjoy the beauty of the island even before embarkation. Numerous accommodations on Aitutaki, many of them near the beach in Arutanga or Amuri, offer comfortable stays and often include airport transfers.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
