From Pisa, you can reach the Piombino Marittima ferry port directly by train (possibly with a change in Campiglia Marittima), from where you take the ferry to Elba. On Foot
From the sights of the old town, such as Forte Stella or the Villa dei Mulini, a pleasant walk leads steadily downhill directly to the harbor promenade, Calata Mazzini. The way back is intuitive to find thanks to the prominent view of the harbor basin, and you will walk on safe sidewalks directly to your ship's gangway.
