Returning to the ship

Hrísey, the idyllic island in Eyjafjörður, is primarily accessible to cruise guests from the DACH region via the ferry terminal in Árskógssandur on the mainland. A classic cruise terminal with extensive infrastructure does not exist on the small island; instead, a simple pier serves as the embarkation and disembarkation point for smaller expedition and local cruises.

Free parking is available directly at the ferry terminal in Árskógssandur, where you can safely park your vehicle during your stay on Hrísey.

Airplane (via Akureyri)

The nearest airport is Akureyri Domestic Airport (AEY), which offers regular connections from Reykjavík (Keflavík International Airport KEF). Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
