The nearest train station is Montélimar, which is only about 10 kilometers from Châteauneuf-du-Rhône. Good regional train connections are available from there. For travelers from the DACH region, the Avignon TGV station is also an excellent option, located about 60 kilometers to the south and offering direct connections from Germany. From Montélimar or Avignon TGV, you can easily reach the pier in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône by taxi or regional bus.

The nearest major airport is Avignon-Provence Airport (AVN), which is around 60 kilometers away. It primarily offers domestic connections. Only about ten minutes' drive from the pier in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône lies the charming town of Montélimar, whose imposing Château des Adhémar perches on a hill and offers a wide panoramic view over the Rhône Valley. The combination of Romanesque architecture and rotating contemporary art exhibitions makes the castle an inspiring destination, while the old town below, with its cozy cafes and traditional nougat manufacturers, is perfect for a delightful break. Thanks to the short distance to the ship, this cultural excursion can be ideally combined with a stroll through the historic alleys. It is best to start your visit directly in the morning to explore the castle in peace and then taste the famous white nougat in one of the local confectioneries, before returning relaxed to the port about ninety minutes before departure.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the pier in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône is very relaxed and safe thanks to the manageable size of the town.

On Foot

From the historic town center with the church of Saint-Nicolas, you can walk comfortably back to the riverbank in a few minutes. The path is easy to find thanks to the direct location on the Rhône Canal and leads through charming alleys directly to the quay.

Taxi

Near the Place de la Mairie, taxis can easily be called via local providers or restaurants and will take you safely to the ship. If you are returning from neighboring Montélimar, vehicles are always available at the local train station for the short trip to the port.

The Cars Région bus line serves the Le Village stop in the town center and offers a reliable connection from the surrounding area. From this central station, you can reach your berth after a short walk and see the ship lying on the shore from afar.
