Taxi
Numerous official taxis wait for passengers directly at the port exit. These offer a comfortable option for city tours or excursions to the Monte Verde viewpoint and the beaches of the island of São Vicente.
Aluguers (Shared Taxis)
The Aluguers, typical of Cape Verde, are inexpensive minibuses that run regularly between Mindelo and other places on the island. They often start near the port or at the central market and also allow you an authentic travel experience to destinations such as Baía das Gatas.

Historic Center of Mindelo

Praia da Laginha

The adjacent beach bars also offer the ideal opportunity to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the bay to the sound of Cape Verdean rhythms.
Monte Verde
As the highest point on the island, this viewpoint allows for a spectacular panorama over Mindelo and the neighboring islands, which you can reach comfortably via a short drive. The journey through the impressive mountain landscape is ideal for nature lovers and also offers fantastic photo opportunities of the volcanic coastline.
Praia da Laginha
The city beach Praia da Laginha is reachable from the cruise pier in about twenty minutes on foot or conveniently via a short taxi transfer and impresses with fine, light sand as well as crystal-clear, turquoise water. Thanks to its immediate proximity to the city center and the relaxed atmosphere in the adjacent beach clubs such as "Caravela," you can enjoy cool drinks and local delicacies directly by the Atlantic. It is best to visit the beach directly in the morning to fully appreciate the pleasant tranquility and the unobstructed view of the imposing Monte Cara. Plan your return to the ship at least sixty minutes before boarding to let the day wind down in a relaxed manner and without time pressure.
The way back to Porto Grande is extremely convenient and flexible due to the central location of Mindelo. Thanks to the clear landmarks, you will reach your ship on time and relaxed at any time.
On Foot
From the city center around the Mercado Municipal or the Rua de Lisboa, you can easily walk back to the harbor in about ten to fifteen minutes. The path leads along the picturesque waterfront promenade Avenida Marginal and offers you a wonderful view of the bay and your ship until you reach the harbor gate.
Taxi
At central locations such as the Praça Estrela or in front of the Hotel Oasis Atlantico Porto Grande, taxis are available at all times and will take you directly to the terminal for a few euros. In addition, you will find a dedicated taxi station at the popular city beach Praia da Laginha, making the journey back to the pier after a day at the beach particularly easy and time-saving.
Alugueres and Shared Taxis
If you have explored the island of São Vicente on your own, the shared taxi journeys usually end at the bustling hub of Praça Estrela in the heart of Mindelo. From this central location, the harbor is only a short walk away, and thanks to the short distances and good signage, you will reach your ship safely and in good time before departure.
