There is no deep-water port for large ships directly at the castle; instead, arrival is via tender boats or, more commonly, via the ferry system to the Isle of Mull, usually arriving in Craignure. For guests from the DACH region, the journey begins with a flight to Scotland. The nearest international airports are Glasgow (GLA) and Edinburgh (EDI). From Glasgow, you can reach Oban, the main ferry port for Mull, in about 2.5 hours by car or bus. From Edinburgh Airport, it is about a 3-hour drive to Oban. It is recommended to fly to Scotland one day before the planned ferry crossing and schedule an overnight stay in Glasgow or Oban to start the journey relaxed.

The main ferry connection to the Isle of Mull is operated by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) and runs from Oban to Craignure.
