Returning to the ship

Akita in Japan is a major hub for cruises and offers excellent accessibility, making it easy for travelers from the DACH region to plan their journey. Thanks to its infrastructure and proximity to transportation hubs, the port is conveniently accessible.

Airplane

The nearest major airport is Akita Airport (AXT), located approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Akita city center. There are no direct flights from the DACH region, so a journey with a stopover in major Japanese metropolises such as Tokyo (Haneda HND or Narita NRT) or Osaka (KIX) is required. From Akita Airport, you can reach Akita Station directly by limousine bus or taxi. The trip to the port then takes an additional 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Due to the long journey from Europe, an overnight stay in Akita before embarkation is recommended to start the cruise relaxed.

Train

The central transportation hub is Akita Station, which is served by the JR Akita Shinkansen line and offers direct connections from Tokyo. From there, the Port of Akita is easily accessible. You can take a taxi, which will bring you directly to the terminal in about 15 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, local bus connections are available, providing a cost-effective option.

Car

The Port of Akita is well-connected to the Japanese road network. You can reach the port via the Akita Expressway (E7) and local roads such as Route 7. The Akita Port Cruise Terminal is located in the area of the Selion Port Tower and is well-signposted. Parking is generally available at the terminal for cruise guests, though exact availability and costs may vary depending on the cruise line and duration of stay. It is advisable to inquire about specific parking providers or "Park & Cruise" options directly with the cruise line or local port authorities.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is typically about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
