Car

The port of Piombino is excellently connected to the Italian road network and directly accessible via the SS 398 expressway, which branches off from the SS 1 Aurelia. The SS 1, in turn, is well-connected to the A1 and A12 motorways, allowing for a convenient journey from both northern and southern Italy. Various parking options are available in the port area and its immediate vicinity, including short- and long-term parking, often in connection with ferry companies or local providers. It is recommended to book parking spaces in advance, especially during the high season, to ensure a smooth process.

Train

The Piombino Marittima railway station is located in the immediate vicinity of the ferry terminals and is the most relevant arrival point for train travelers. From here, the terminals are within walking distance, allowing for a very convenient arrival. Piombino Marittima station is connected to the larger Campiglia Marittima station via regional trains. Campiglia Marittima is a major hub on the Pisa-Rome railway line and offers direct connections to major cities such as Pisa, Florence, and Rome, from where ICE and EuroCity connections to the DACH region exist.

The nearest major airport is Pisa International Airport "Galileo Galilei" (PSA), approximately 100 kilometers north of Piombino. It is served by direct flights from several German and Swiss airports. The journey from Pisa Airport to Piombino takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car or taxi. Another transfer option is by train: from Pisa Airport, take the PisaMover to Pisa Centrale main station, from where regular train connections (often with a change in Campiglia Marittima) run to Piombino Marittima. For travelers with an early embarkation time or after a long-haul flight, an overnight stay in Pisa or near Piombino may be recommended.
