Port information & tips for Harvest Caye (Private Island)
Harvest Caye is the exclusive island paradise off the coast of Belize and is considered one of the most luxurious private destinations in the Western Caribbean. The island impresses with its authentic charm and a harmonious combination of relaxation and adventure amidst a tropical setting with views of the majestic Maya Mountains. Highlights include the extensive sandy beach, the exciting "Flight of the Toucan" zipline, and the huge pool area with a relaxed swim-up bar. Cruise ships dock directly at the Harvest Caye Cruise Ship Pier, which allows for a comfortable shore excursion without tender boats. Thanks to regular boat shuttles, the charming fishing village of Placencia on the mainland can be reached in just 15 minutes, while all of the island's attractions can be easily explored on foot.
Harvest Caye is an exclusive island resort in southern Belize that allows ships to dock directly and conveniently thanks to its modern pier facility. For guests from the DACH region, travel to this region typically involves flying via Belize City, supplemented by local onward connections to the south of the country.
Airplane
Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City serves as the central gateway and is usually reached from Europe with a layover in the USA, for example via Miami (MIA) or Houston (IAH). From there, the fastest way to reach the region around Harvest Caye is with a connecting flight to Placencia Airport (PLJ), which is just a short hop away.
Transfer & Shuttle
From the international airport in Belize City, you can easily reach the south via private shuttle or rental car using the well-maintained Hummingbird Highway and the Southern Highway toward Placencia. The drive to the south takes about three hours and offers your first impressive glimpses of the tropical landscape and the Maya Mountains of Belize.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight duration from Europe, we recommend arriving at least one day before your planned stay in the region to start your vacation relaxed. An overnight stay at a resort in Placencia is ideal, as there are regular boat transfers to the private island of Harvest Caye from there, while also allowing you to experience the local culture of the coastal region.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
