Returning to the ship

The island of Bozcaada, known for its charming harbor and unique Aegean atmosphere, is accessible exclusively by ferry from the mainland. Cruise ships typically anchor offshore, and tender boats transport guests directly to the main pier in the center of Bozcaada town, which is easy to explore on foot thanks to its compact size.

Airplane & Onward Journey to the Ferry

The nearest airport is Canakkale Airport (CKZ), located approximately 40 to 50 kilometers from the Geyikli ferry port. Direct flights from the DACH region are rare; a layover in Istanbul or Izmir is often necessary. From Canakkale, you can easily reach the Geyikli ferry terminal by bus or taxi in about one hour. Smaller regional airports like Edremit (EDO) are also an option but require longer transfer times.

Car & Ferry Crossing

For those arriving with their own vehicle, first drive to Canakkale province and then follow well-maintained roads, such as the D200, to Geyikli. The distance from Canakkale to Geyikli is around 48.5 kilometers. Parking is available at the Geyikli ferry terminal, and vehicles can be taken on the ferry to Bozcaada, though booking ferry tickets in advance is advisable during the summer months. The ferry crossing from Geyikli to Bozcaada takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

Travel Planning & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the necessary transfers from the airport to the ferry terminal and the ferry crossing itself, careful travel planning is recommended. Arriving one day before embarkation and staying overnight on the mainland in Canakkale or on Bozcaada itself allows for a relaxed start to your cruise vacation. Numerous hotels in Canakkale offer good connections to the Geyikli ferry port, and Bozcaada also features charming accommodations for a restful stay before your cruise.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan accordingly and allow sufficient time for your journey to the port, keeping in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
