From the cruise port in Alta, you can easily reach the city center, which is about four kilometers away, using various means of transport. A walk into town takes approximately 50 to 60 minutes and leads you along the coast directly into the heart of the charming Northern Lights City.

Public Buses (Snelandia)
The yellow scheduled buses from the regional provider Snelandia run regularly and are easily accessible thanks to a stop near the terminal. Lines 42 or 110 will take you quickly to the center and also directly to the famous Alta Museum with its prehistoric rock carvings.
Taxi
Official vehicles from Alta Taxi are available directly at the port area and offer an individual service for your desired destinations. The return journey to the Port of Alta is very straightforward thanks to the manageable size of the city and can be easily planned at any time.
Taxi
Taxis are available in the city center at the Amfi shopping center and in front of major hotels such as the Scandic Alta or Thon Hotel. Additionally, you can conveniently request a vehicle directly to the sights via telephone or app, reaching the pier safely within a few minutes.
Shuttle Bus and Local Public Transport
Cruise lines often offer a shuttle service that regularly commutes between the striking Northern Lights Cathedral in the center and the port terminal. You can also use the local buses on line 100 from the central Alta Sentrum stop to reach the port easily and punctually.
On Foot
A relaxed walk leads you from the city center via Markveien directly back to the ship. The path is level and very easy to find thanks to the clear signage to the port area and the high visibility of the ship in the fjord.
