Returning to the ship

Hannover is a popular starting point for relaxed river cruises on the Mittellandkanal and, thanks to its central location, offers excellent accessibility for guests from the DACH region. Instead of large ocean terminals, you can expect charming moorings for your river journey.

Car

You can reach Hannover and the relevant port areas excellently via the A2, A7, A37, and A352 motorways. Public parking is available in the vicinity for embarkation at the river cruise moorings, such as at Lindener Hafen or Nordhafen. For long-term parkers, the P+R Nordhafen car park offers a free option.

Train

Hannover Hauptbahnhof is an important hub in the German ICE network and allows for a comfortable arrival from all regions. From there, you can reach the river cruise departure points, such as Lindener Hafen, conveniently by public transport. For example, light rail line 9 takes you to the "Am Lindener Hafen" stop, from which the moorings are within walking distance. Alternatively, bus lines such as 124, 127, and 360 are available.

Airplane

Hannover Airport (HAJ) is located around 10 to 11 kilometers north of the city center and is optimally connected. The S-Bahn line S5 connects the airport directly with Hannover Hauptbahnhof; the journey takes about 17 minutes. For a direct trip to the port area, taxis or rental cars take about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. For a relaxed arrival, we recommend the various parking options at the airport, often including a shuttle service. For longer flights, an overnight stay in one of the comfortable hotels in Hannover on the evening before embarkation is recommended.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
