Swinemünde is the maritime gateway to the Polish Baltic Sea and a sought-after destination on the history-rich islands of Usedom and Wolin. Swinemünde, located on the Polish Baltic coast, is easily accessible by car thanks to the new Swinetunnel connection and also offers good train and flight connections for a relaxed journey from the DACH region. The port serves both as an important ferry port and as a port of call for cruise ships.

Car

Thanks to the good road connections, you can easily reach Swinemünde from Germany. From Berlin, the A11/E28 leads to Goleniów and from there the E65 goes directly to the port. Travelers from the Lübeck/Hamburg region use the A20 motorway to Gützkow and then follow the B111/110 towards Swinemünde, with the Swinetunnel, opened in 2023, ensuring a convenient connection to the island of Usedom. The S3 express road, completed in 2025, also offers a direct connection from the south and facilitates the journey for guests from southern Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. In the Swinemünde urban area, there are paid parking zones and guarded parking lots; payment is conveniently made at machines or via official apps such as SkyCash and mobiParking.

Train

Swinemünde Central Station (Świnoujście Centrum) is easily accessible thanks to good train connections from Germany, and the Deutschlandticket can even be used up to this station. From there, you can easily reach the cruise terminal or the ferry port with city buses line 11 or 5 heading towards Łęgowa to the "Szkoła Morska" stop, which is only about 300 meters from the Finnlines check-in office. Another option is the "Świnoujście Port" station, which is located directly on the port premises and offers a short walk of just a few minutes to the ferry port.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Solidarity Szczecin-Goleniów Airport (SZZ), located about 55 to 70 kilometers from Swinemünde. From there, flexible transfer options are available, including taxis that cover the distance in around 80 to 90 minutes and cost about 230 PLN (approx. 50 euros). Alternatively, you can use private transfer services that allow a direct drive to your destination in Swinemünde. For shorter journeys on Usedom, Heringsdorf Airport (HDF) is also an option, located only about 8 kilometers away and considered the fastest option with a travel time of around 59 minutes.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan accordingly sufficient time for the journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

City Ferries

The free city ferries of the Bielik line connect both sides of the city's riverbanks every minute and take you comfortably from the eastern port area directly into the center on the west side.

On Foot

From the terminal, you can reach the city ferry pier after a short walk and, after crossing, stroll within a few minutes directly into the Kurpark or to the bustling promenade.

Taxi

Numerous taxis are waiting directly at the port exit, offering a fast connection to the spa quarters as well as to the neighboring Kaiserbäder on the German side of the island of Usedom.

The extensive beach of Swinemünde can be reached from the harbor in about twenty minutes on foot or within a few minutes by taxi and impresses as one of the widest and cleanest sandy beaches on the entire Baltic Sea coast. Thanks to the excellent infrastructure, you will find numerous stylish cafés, first-class restaurants, and comfortable beach chair rentals along the adjacent, modern promenade for maximum relaxation by the sea. This place is perfectly suited for a relaxing day and also offers charming architecture in the classic resort style as well as an invigorating sea breeze. It is best to visit the beach directly in the morning to enjoy the wide view in peace, and plan your leisurely return path to the ship about ninety minutes before departure.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the port of Swinemünde is straightforward and flexible thanks to the central location of the berths. Plan a small time buffer for the way from the beach or the city side so that you can end your stay in a relaxed manner.

Taxi

Taxis are available at any time at central taxi ranks at Plac Wolności, along the promenade, and directly in front of major hotels such as the Radisson Blu Resort. The ride to the pier is inexpensive and, thanks to the short distances, brings you directly and safely back to the ship within a few minutes.

City Ferry and Buses

If you have visited the eastern side of the city, use the free city ferry Bielik, which operates at short intervals and comfortably takes you to the western bank. In addition, local bus lines connect the spa district directly with the port area, allowing you to make your way back easily and punctually.

On Foot

From the city center and the waterfront promenade Wybrzeże Władysława IV, you can easily reach the cruise ship berths on foot. The path leads along the water through lively areas and is easy to find without detours thanks to the prominent silhouette of the ships and local signs.
