Returning to the ship

Labadee is an exclusive private peninsula on the northern coast of Haiti, served exclusively by Royal Caribbean Group cruise ships as a private destination. Since it is purely a port of call for shore excursions and not an embarkation port, travel for guests from the DACH region takes place via the major home ports in Florida, such as PortMiami or Port Everglades.

Airplane

The journey usually begins with a flight to Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which are conveniently served by direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich, or Zurich. From these international hubs, you can reach the respective departure ports in about 15 to 40 minutes by taxi, rental car, or cruise line shuttle, thanks to the excellent connections via the I-95 and I-395 highways.

Transfer & Embarkation

Once you arrive at the destination of Labadee, you will benefit from the modern pier facility built in 2009, which allows large cruise ships to dock directly. This saves you the time-consuming process of tendering with small boats and allows for a comfortable, barrier-free transition from the ship directly onto the guarded private grounds with its various beach sections.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight duration and the time difference, we recommend arriving in Florida at least one day before the ship departs. Many hotels in Miami and Fort Lauderdale also offer special Park & Cruise packages, which include secure parking for the duration of the cruise and a transfer to the terminal in addition to the overnight stay, ensuring a relaxed start to your vacation.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.

Columbus Cove

The picturesque Columbus Cove is located at the end of the peninsula and is easily accessible by the free shuttle train or a short walk. This bay impresses with its fine sand and particularly calm water, and also offers excellent infrastructure with comfortable sun loungers, shady trees, and a buffet restaurant in the immediate vicinity. Thanks to its somewhat more remote location, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere away from the busy areas directly at the pier. It is best to visit this stretch of beach in the morning to secure an ideal spot under the palm trees, and plan your return journey about ninety minutes before departure to enjoy a relaxed walk back to the ship through the nearby artisan village.

Returning to the ship

The journey back to the ship is particularly straightforward and safe in this private resort, as all paths are located within the secured grounds. Thanks to the short distances and good organization, you will reach the gangway on time and relaxed.

Island Vehicles and Trams

The free, open shuttle trams commute at short intervals between the various beach sections and the central pier. You will find the marked stops directly at the main areas such as Columbus Cove or Adrenaline Beach, allowing you to return to the ship comfortably and without a long wait.

On Foot

The paved walking paths are clearly signposted and lead you directly through the well-maintained resort grounds to the port. Since the area is reserved exclusively for cruise guests, you can enjoy a safe walk and reach the pier from most beaches within five to ten minutes.

Water Taxis and Excursion Boats

Should you have opted for an excursion to more remote reefs or sandbanks, local boats will bring you directly back to the official landing stages. The return is precisely coordinated by the staff on-site, ensuring a smooth transition to the main pier where your ship is already waiting in sight.
