The Historic City Walls & Craft Village

The fully preserved city walls of Londonderry are easily accessible from the port in about fifteen to twenty minutes and, as a unique architectural monument, offer a fascinating circular walk with wide panoramic views over the historic old town. This cultural highlight can be perfectly combined with a visit to the charming "Craft Village," which creates a wonderful atmosphere for relaxing with its reconstructed 18th-century buildings, owner-managed boutiques, and inviting cafes. Thanks to the compact arrangement of the sights, you can enjoy history and Northern Irish hospitality over short distances and also find excellent opportunities for an authentic lunch. It is best to start your tour directly in the morning to explore the impressive architecture in peace, and plan a short detour to the modern Peace Bridge in the early afternoon before returning to the ship on time and relaxed.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the port of Londonderry is very comfortable thanks to the good infrastructure and can be flexibly designed according to your wishes.

Shuttle Service

Most cruise lines offer a shuttle service that takes you directly from the central stop at the Guildhall back to the terminal in Lisahally. Use this service for a relaxed return and plan about 15 to 20 minutes for the journey to be back on board on time.

Taxi

Central taxi ranks can be found at Waterloo Place and at the Diamond directly within the historic city walls. In addition, you can conveniently have a taxi called in hotels such as the City Hotel Derry on the riverbank, which will transport you quickly and safely to the port area thanks to the direct road connection.

On Foot and Orientation

If your ship is docked at the central City Quay, simply stroll back on board via the riverside promenade or the striking Peace Bridge. Since the larger Lisahally port is located a bit further out, guests from there prefer to use the provided buses and enjoy the beautiful view of the River Foyle during the journey.
