Returning to the ship

Aswan is the southernmost starting point for Nile cruises in Egypt and is well connected, although mainly by air. The embarkation points for the Nile cruise ships are located along the Corniche. Due to the long journey from the DACH region, arriving one day before the scheduled embarkation is generally recommended.

Airplane

Aswan International Airport (ASW) is the nearest airport and is located about 20 to 25 kilometers southwest of the city center and the ship piers. Direct international flights from the DACH region are rare; arrival is usually via Cairo (CAI) with a connecting flight to Aswan. The flight time from Cairo to Aswan is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Aswan Airport, you can easily reach the Nile cruise ship piers by taxi or via pre-arranged transfers from the cruise lines or hotels in about 30 to 45 minutes.

Transfer & Shuttle

After arriving at Aswan International Airport (ASW), various transfer options are available to you. In addition to local taxis that will take you directly to the ships or your pre-cruise hotel, most Nile cruise lines and tour operators offer organized shuttle services. These often wait directly at the airport exit and ensure a smooth transition to the embarkation point. Pre-booking the transfer is highly recommended due to the often early flight arrivals and to avoid long waiting times.

Vorab-Hotel

Since international flights to Egypt usually go via Cairo and often do not arrive in Aswan until the afternoon or evening, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Aswan before the start of your Nile cruise is strongly recommended. This allows you to start your vacation relaxed, without the stress of traveling directly to the ship after a long flight. Numerous hotels along the Corniche or near the airport offer comfortable accommodations, from which you can start your journey refreshed the next day.

Check-in & Einschiffung

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
