Transfer & Shuttle
From Guwahati Airport (GAU), you can reach Silghat comfortably by transfer. The route of around 150 kilometers leads mostly via the well-developed National Highway 27 and takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Cruise lines often organize collective transfers, and private taxis and rental cars with drivers are also available. Given the long journey, an overnight stay in Guwahati on the day before embarkation is recommended to start your river adventure relaxed.

Silghat has its own railway station, the Silghat Town Railway Station (SHTT), whose main entrance is oriented directly towards the river side of the Brahmaputra. The fascinating Kaziranga National Park, especially the Burapahar sector, is located only about fifteen minutes' drive from the pier in Silghat and offers you the excellent opportunity to observe the famous one-horned rhinoceros in its natural habitat. Thanks to its close proximity to the port, this UNESCO World Heritage section is perfectly suited for a safari and also impresses with a varied landscape of dense forests and wide grasslands. Professionally guided jeep safaris are available on site to take you safely through the wilderness area, while small stations at the entrance area offer ideal opportunities for short refreshments. It is best to start your excursion early in the morning to experience the highest activity of the wildlife and return to your ship completely relaxed in the late morning to continue your journey.
The return journey to the pier on the Brahmaputra is very straightforward, thanks to the clear infrastructure and the warm hospitality in Assam.
Taxis and Auto-Rickshaws
Private taxis and typical auto-rickshaws can be found at Silghat Town railway station and at central squares in the nearby city of Tezpur. For the return trip from the area around Kaziranga, the well-known lodges at the Kohora entrance can arrange reliable drivers for a direct transfer to the ship.
Organised Transfers and Safari Vehicles
Most excursions to Kaziranga National Park already include return transport in off-road vehicles and use the well-developed National Highway 715. These organised trips bring you safely back to the port and, thanks to fixed schedules, ensure a punctual arrival before departure.
On Foot
From the historical Hatimura Temple or the small shops in the centre of Silghat, you can easily walk back to the riverbank. The short path through the idyllic village is safe and leads you directly to your ship's pier without any detours.
