Boppard is excellently connected to the road network. Via the A61 motorway (exit Boppard/Buchholz, then L209), you can reach the town conveniently from the direction of Köln or Mainz. The B9 on the left bank of the Rhine from Koblenz or Bingen, as well as the B327 (Hunsrückhöhenstraße), also lead directly to Boppard. Numerous public parking spaces are available along the Rheinallee, some of which are free of charge and unlimited in time, or can be used with a daily ticket for a fee. Some hotels in Boppard also offer monitored parking garages.

Boppard Main Station is part of the regional express network (MRB Mittelrheinbahn) and allows for a relaxed journey from various directions via major hubs such as Koblenz, Mainz, or Frankfurt. From the main station, you can reach the ship piers on the Rhine in about 15 minutes on foot.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN), approximately 55 kilometers away. The travel time by car or private transfer from there is around 45 minutes. Alternatively, the larger Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) is about 100 kilometers away and offers a variety of transfer options to Boppard. Köln/Bonn Airport (CGN) is also an option at a distance of around 110 kilometers, although the train journey from there takes about two hours.

On Foot
The historic center and the main shopping streets lie directly behind the riverfront promenade and can be reached within two to five minutes. At the same time, the flat paths invite you to take a relaxed stroll along the well-preserved Roman castle walls.
Sesselbahn Boppard
From the port, you can reach the valley station of the chairlift in just a few minutes' walk along the banks of the Rhine. This takes you comfortably to the most beautiful viewpoints, such as the Vierseenblick, and allows for a pleasant ride over the surrounding vineyards.
Ferry and Taxi
The passenger ferry departs in the immediate vicinity of the cruise docks and allows for a quick crossing to the right bank of the Rhine. Taxis are also available at the main train station, about a ten-minute walk away, or can be ordered directly to the docking point.

Historische Altstadt & Rheinallee
The picturesque riverside promenade invites you to take a relaxed walk directly from the pier and leads visitors straight into the heart of the Altstadt, where charming half-timbered houses and cozy wine taverns are perfect for a tasting of regional Rieslings.
Sesselbahn zum Vierseenblick
A ride on the nostalgic chairlift offers a spectacular panorama over the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley and leads to a viewpoint from which the Rhine appears like a chain of four glittering lakes thanks to an optical illusion.
Römerkastell Bodobrica
The impressive walls of the ancient fort are among the best-preserved Roman fortifications in Germany and, together with the late Romanesque St. Severus Church, form a cultural highlight that is ideal for a historical excursion thanks to its central location.
Sesselbahn to Gedeonseck
The Sesselbahn Boppard is located just a short, approximately ten-minute walk from the ship piers and offers a relaxed ride up to the Gedeonseck viewpoint with a spectacular view of the famous large Rhine loop. Once at the top, an inviting restaurant awaits you with a spacious panoramic terrace, perfect for an enjoyable break with a glass of regional Riesling. Thanks to the continuous trips and the direct proximity to the city center, this experience can be ideally integrated into your shore excursion while simultaneously offering a wonderful oasis of peace above the river valley. It is best to start your excursion in the morning to capture the soft light over the Rhine and return to the ship relaxed after a short stroll through the adjacent old town.
The way back to your cruise ship in Boppard is designed to be incredibly straightforward and safe thanks to the central location of the docking berths on the Rheinallee.
On Foot
Most ship moorings are located directly on the well-maintained riverfront promenade, which you can reach from the Marktplatz or the pedestrian zone in just a few minutes. Simply follow the course of the river and enjoy the flat, well-lit walk along the historical city wall directly back to your ship's gangway.
Taxi
Should you return from an excursion in the surrounding area, you will find reliable taxi stands directly at Boppard Main Station as well as near the Sankt Severus Church on the Marktplatz. Many hotels in the city will also be happy to call a car for you, which will take you comfortably and punctually to the respective pier on the Rheinallee.
Chairlift and Rhine Ferry
After a visit to the Vierseenblick viewpoint, you can float back down into the valley quite relaxed with the chairlift and reach the Rhine embankment from the valley station in a short time. If your excursion has taken you to the opposite side of the Rhine to Filsen, the large car ferry will bring you back safely to the center of Boppard at regular intervals and lands in the immediate vicinity of the cruise moorings.
