Returning to the ship

Honningsvåg is the northernmost cruise port on the European mainland and serves as the gateway to the legendary North Cape. Ships dock directly at the centrally located pier in the town center, allowing guests to enjoy short distances to excursion buses and local attractions.

Airplane

Honningsvåg Airport (HVG) is located only about 4 kilometers from the port and is served several times daily by the airline Widerøe via the hubs of Tromsø (TOS) or Hammerfest (HFT). For international travelers from the DACH region, Alta Airport (ALF) also serves as an important alternative, as it is located about 200 kilometers to the south and often serves as a destination for charter flights, from which organized bus transfers lead to the ship in about three to four hours.

Car

Arrival with your own vehicle is via the well-maintained European route E6 to Olderfjord and then continues via the spectacular E69 directly through the North Cape Tunnel onto the island of Magerøya. In the center of Honningsvåg, there are public parking facilities in the immediate vicinity of the pier and the tourist information office, allowing convenient access to the ship.

Coastal Express & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Thanks to the daily calls of the Hurtigruten and Havila Kystruten, the port is excellently integrated into the Norwegian maritime network and offers a first-class opportunity for a combined journey. Due to the exposed location in the Arctic and possible weather caprices, arriving a day early and staying overnight in one of the local hotels is recommended to begin your stay at the 71st parallel in a relaxed and safe manner.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will typically receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
