Colonial Heritage and Japanese Gardens in La Serena

The historic old town of La Serena as well as the neighboring Japanese garden "Jardín del Corazón" are easily accessible by taxi in about twenty minutes and offer a fascinating mix of Chilean colonial history and relaxing nature. Thanks to the distinctive architecture of the "Plan Serena" and the traditional market "La Recova", you will find high-quality handicrafts as well as regional specialties here, while the largest Japanese garden in South America invites you to take a relaxed stroll with its ponds and pagodas. Ideally, visit the cultural center in the morning to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the gardens in peace, and plan your return to the port for a relaxed boarding at least ninety minutes before setting sail.

The return journey to the port of Coquimbo is straightforward thanks to the terminal's location close to the city, allowing for a relaxed return to the ship. Plan a small time buffer in the afternoon for port security checks to ensure you are back on board punctually and stress-free.

Taxis as well as the colectivos typical of Chile are available at central locations such as the Plaza de Armas or directly in front of the Mall Vivo Coquimbo. Shuttle Bus and Local Transport

For guests spending the day in neighboring La Serena, cruise line shuttle buses or public micros of Line 1 run regularly back from the Plaza de Armas or the La Recova market. These buses stop conveniently on the main road right outside the port grounds and also provide a reliable option for the return journey.

From the historic Barrio Inglés district or the popular Terminal Pesquero fish market, you can easily walk back to the ship in about 10 to 15 minutes. The path leads along the bustling coastal road and is easy to find thanks to the clear layout and the presence of security personnel at the port gate.
