Returning to the ship

Cai Lan Port in Halong Bay is Vietnam's most important hub for large cruise ships and offers excellent connections to the region thanks to its modern infrastructure. The terminal in the Bai Chay district is specifically designed for international passengers and serves as an ideal starting point for tours through the famous UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

Airplane

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi is the central arrival point for travelers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and is conveniently served via various hubs. For an even shorter journey to the ship, the regional airports Cat Bi (HPH) in Hai Phong or Van Don (VDO) are also available, each located only about 45 to 60 minutes' drive from the port.

Transfer & Shuttle

Thanks to the modern CT04 and CT06 highways, the journey from Hanoi to the terminal is possible in about 2.5 to 3 hours over a distance of around 160 kilometers. Most guests book a limousine service directly through their cruise line or private providers, guaranteeing a seamless transition from the airport to Cai Lan Port.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long travel time from Europe, an overnight stay in Hanoi or directly in Halong City is recommended before embarkation. A hotel stay in the nearby Bai Chay district ensures a stress-free start to the cruise and allows you to enjoy the impressive atmosphere of the bay even before boarding.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
