You can easily reach Douarnenez via the N165, a major national road connecting Brest in the north with Nantes in the southeast. From this route, you can reach the port directly via Quimper. The N164 also provides a connection towards Rennes. For travelers from the DACH region, arrival via Paris (approx. 6 hours travel time) or Rennes (approx. 2 hours) is possible. In Douarnenez itself, several parking options are available near the harbor and in the city center, including guarded parking lots.

Since Douarnenez does not have its own train station, the nearest relevant station is Quimper, approximately 17 to 26 kilometers away. Quimper station is well-connected to the French rail network and offers connections to other French cities. From Quimper station, you can easily reach Douarnenez by public bus in about 28 to 40 minutes. Alternatively, taxis are available to take you to the port in around 24 minutes.
Airplane
For arrival by plane, Quimper Bretagne Airport (UIP) and Brest Bretagne Airport (BES) are available. Quimper Airport (UIP) is the closest at only about 18 to 20 kilometers away and a 20- to 30-minute taxi ride from Douarnenez. Brest Bretagne Airport (BES) is located approximately 39 to 72 kilometers to the north and can be reached in about one hour's drive. From Brest, there are both domestic flights and some international connections. For international long-haul flights, we recommend arriving the day before embarkation due to the flight time, to start your cruise experience relaxed.

On Foot
The city center and the historic port of Rosmeur can be easily reached in about 5 to 10 minutes. The paths are well signposted and invite you to take a relaxed stroll through the narrow streets and along the quays.
Le P'tit Bac (Water Taxi)
This popular small ferry connects the port of Tréboul with the Quai du Rosmeur on the opposite side during the season. The crossing takes only a few minutes and simultaneously offers a wonderful view of the traditional sailing ships in the bay.
Taxi
Taxis are often available directly at the port exit upon the arrival of ships, as well as at central points such as Place Gabriel Péri. They provide a direct and comfortable ride to more remote sights or the extensive sandy beaches of the region.

Port-Musée at Port-Rhu
The fascinating Port-Musée in the picturesque Port-Rhu district is easily accessible within about fifteen minutes on foot from the harbour and offers a unique collection of historical ships, some of which can be boarded directly in the water. Thanks to the authentic exhibits and the idyllic location at the river mouth, you can enjoy deep insights into the maritime soul of Bretagne, while the adjacent quays with inviting cafés and a wide view over the water beckon you to linger. Ideally, visit the museum in the morning to admire the floating veterans in the soft morning sun and afterwards stroll relaxed through the alleys back to the ship.
The way back to the port of Douarnenez is very relaxed thanks to the clear city structure and offers beautiful views of the Breton coast until the very end. Plan a small time buffer for security checks at the port for your return to Port du Rosmeur or the cruise terminal.
Taxi
Taxis are available at central points such as Place de l'Enfer near Port-Rhu or at the tourist office on Rue du Docteur Mével and will take you safely to the ship in a few minutes. Thanks to the short distances within the city, a trip is possible flexibly at any time and is also a convenient option after an extensive excursion.
On Foot
The way back to Port du Rosmeur leads directly through the picturesque alleys of the city center and is easy to find thanks to the good signage. From the historic port of Port-Rhu, you can stroll leisurely along the water and reach the tender boat landing stage or the quay in about 15 to 20 minutes.
Bus and Shuttle
Local buses of the TUD network connect the outskirts as well as beaches like Plage des Sables Blancs directly with the city center and the port area. In addition, you can conveniently use the shuttle buses provided by many cruise lines, which commute regularly between the central sights and the port entrance.
