Returning to the ship

The port of Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda is an idyllic destination for exclusive cruise ships and yachts, located right in the heart of the island thanks to its position at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour. Arrival from the DACH region is straightforward due to well-coordinated flight and ferry connections via neighboring islands and offers initial Caribbean impressions upon arrival.

Airplane

Guests from Central Europe usually fly via San Juan (SJU) or Antigua (ANU) and use regional airlines for the final leg to Virgin Gorda Airport (VIJ), which is located only about three kilometers from the port. A popular alternative is flying to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Beef Island, which is directly connected by numerous feeder flights from across the Caribbean and the USA.

Ferry

From the airport on Beef Island, a short walk or transfer leads to the pier in Trellis Bay, from where fast ferries such as Speedy’s cross directly to Spanish Town in about 20 minutes. This water connection, with regular departures until the evening hours, is the most important logistical component for traveling to the cruise terminal and enables a direct transition to the ship.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the time difference and the multi-stage journey, an overnight stay in Spanish Town before the start of the cruise is advisable. The hotels in The Valley region provide an ideal base and can be reached within five to ten minutes from the ferry dock or airport thanks to efficient local taxis, guaranteeing a stress-free start to the sea voyage and also allowing time for a visit to the famous rock formations of The Baths.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
