Airplane

For guests from the DACH region, traveling by plane is a convenient option. The nearest airport is Kristiansand (KRS), approximately 100 kilometers from Farsund. From there, you can reach Farsund in about 3.5 to 4 hours by bus, requiring transfers in Kristiansand and Lyngdal. Alternatively, Stavanger Airport (SVG) offers another travel option; it is located around 160 kilometers away and can be reached by car in about 2.5 hours. Airlines such as SAS and Norwegian Air Shuttle serve these airports.

Car

Arriving with your own vehicle or a rental car allows for maximum flexibility. Farsund is accessible via the E39 European route to Lyngdal, from where you follow the Rv43 country road directly to Farsund. Please note that a toll is charged on the route between Lyngdal and Farsund. Various parking options are available in the city center and on the nearby islands, including larger parking lots directly at Farsund Marina, which form an ideal base.

Transfer & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Given the travel times from Kristiansand or Stavanger airports, booking a pre-arranged transfer to the port or staying overnight in Farsund the day before your cruise is recommended for a relaxed embarkation. Private transfer services are available from both airports and guarantee a comfortable direct journey. A hotel stay in Farsund before departure also allows you to enjoy the idyllic port city and its maritime atmosphere at your leisure and board the ship well-rested.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination area—is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
