Airplane
Arrival from the DACH region typically takes place by plane to the nearest Miyazaki Airport (KMI), located about 34.7 km north of the port. Thanks to good connections, the airport is easily accessible, and due to the long flight time, it is recommended to arrive at least one day prior to embarkation.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Miyazaki Airport (KMI), you can reach the port by car in about 38 minutes. Alternatively, a combination of train and bus is available: from the airport, you can reach Miyazaki city by train or bus and continue from there with the JR Nichinan Line to Aburatsu Station. From Aburatsu Station, which is located about 3 km from the terminal, free shuttles from the cruise lines or local authorities usually operate, bringing you to the embarkation area in about 10 minutes. Taxis are also available at the pier and will quickly take you to the center of Nichinan or to sights such as Obi.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a relaxed start to your cruise in Japan, an overnight stay in the Miyazaki or Nichinan area prior to the day of embarkation is recommended. This allows you to make the long journey stress-free and to acclimatize. This also gives you the opportunity to explore the charming coastal region and sights such as the historic Obi Castle or the Udo Shrine even before departure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the cruise: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
