The port of Lelystad, especially the modern Bataviahaven, is an attractive starting point for cruises on the IJsselmeer and Markermeer. Thanks to its central location in the province of Flevoland and the excellent infrastructure, arrival from the DACH region is straightforward and comfortable.

Car

You can easily reach Lelystad via the A6 motorway, which provides a direct connection to the Dutch trunk road network and connects the port with Germany. Directly at Bataviahaven and at the adjacent Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, generous parking facilities such as the VOC car park are available, providing secure spaces for short- and long-term parkers in the immediate vicinity of the ship.

Train

Lelystad Centrum station is an important hub in the Dutch rail network and is regularly served by Intercity trains from Amsterdam as well as connections from Germany. From the station, you can reach the terminal in less than ten minutes with bus line 3 or take one of the waiting taxis for the short distance of around three kilometres.

Airplane

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is located around 65 kilometres away and offers numerous daily direct connections from Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and other cities in the DACH region. From the airport, you can reach the port of Lelystad directly by train in about 45 minutes or use one of the shuttle services, which will take you to Bataviahaven in a short time via the well-developed motorways.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.

Public buses

The city buses of line 3 connect the harbor area directly with the Lelystad Centrum station and the city core. Thanks to the regular frequency, you can reach your destination in about 15 minutes and benefit from easy orientation within the urban transport network.

Taxi

Taxis are available near the harbor terminal and the Batavia Stad entrance for a comfortable onward journey. These offer a quick connection to destinations in the area and allow for individual scheduling for your exploration tour in Flevoland.

Batavialand and the VOC Ship Batavia

The impressive Batavialand, featuring the faithful reconstruction of the historic sailing ship Batavia, is located just a few minutes' walk from the cruise pier and offers fascinating insights into the Golden Age of Dutch seafaring. Thanks to the combination of living shipyard history and the accessible ship, you can experience maritime history up close and also find cozy cafes directly on the waterfront promenade for a relaxed break with a view of the Markermeer. Ideally, visit the site in the morning to enjoy the special atmosphere on deck and in the shipyard in peace, returning relaxed to the harbor in the early afternoon.

Returning to the ship

Returning to Bataviahaven in Lelystad is very straightforward thanks to the short distances from the main attractions and the good connections to the city center.

Taxi

Taxis are available for you at Lelystad Centrum station and directly at the main entrance of the Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet. In addition, you can conveniently have a vehicle called at the reception of the Leonardo Hotel and reach the ship within a few minutes.

Bus Connection

The local bus line 3 connects Lelystad Centrum station directly with the Batavia Stad stop and brings you back to the port area on time. Thanks to regular departure times and the short travel time, you will also have enough time for a relaxed shore excursion.

On Foot

If you are at the Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet or at Batavialand, simply walk back to the pier via the waterfront promenade in a few minutes. The path is excellently signposted and leads you safely back to the ship directly along the water.
