Ales Stenar
The mystical megalithic monument perches majestically on a cliff above the Baltic Sea and is an absolute highlight for every culture lover thanks to its history-steeped atmosphere. The 59 massive stones form a monumental ship and simultaneously offer a spectacular view of the deep blue coastal landscape of the Kåseberga region.
Ystad Sandskog
This dreamy sandy beach stretches directly to the east of the city and is perfect for a relaxing stay in nature thanks to its gently sloping coast and the adjacent pine forests. The characteristic colorful beach huts give the section of coast a picturesque touch and create an idyllic atmosphere for relaxing hours by the sea.
Historic Old Town of Ystad
The picturesque old town, with its over 300 well-preserved half-timbered houses, is located just ten minutes' walk from the harbor and offers a perfect setting for an authentic Swedish shore excursion. Thanks to the compact structure, you can easily explore sights such as St. Marien-Kirche or the medieval Franciscan monastery on foot, and will also find ideal photo opportunities as well as charming little boutiques in the famous Mariagatan. Use the early morning hours for a quiet stroll through the flower-lined alleys and plan time for a traditional “Fika” – a coffee break with cinnamon rolls – in one of the cozy cafés on the marketplace. Since the city center is so close to the ship, you can enjoy maximum flexibility and return to the harbor in a relaxed manner and without time pressure in the early afternoon.
The way back to the port of Ystad is extremely straightforward thanks to the central location of the pier, allowing for a relaxed return to the ship. Since the distances are short, you will reach your destination on time and can enjoy the charming atmosphere of the historic old town until boarding.
On Foot
From the central market square Stortorget or the Marienkirche, you can walk directly back to the port area in about 10 to 15 minutes. The path leads through the picturesque alleys of the pedestrian zone and is easy to find thanks to the clear signs pointing towards Bornholmsgatan and the ferry terminal.
Taxi
For the return journey from further away destinations such as the beach of Sandskogen, taxis are available at central squares as well as in front of the Hotel Ystad Saltsjöbad. Additionally, there is a large taxi rank directly at Ystad Station, which is immediately adjacent to the port area, guaranteeing a quick and comfortable arrival at the ship.
Public Transport
All regional trains and city buses stop at Ystad's central station, from where you can easily reach the ship's area via a short, level walk. The connections are reliably timed and, thanks to the good infrastructure, will bring you safely back to the port area from the surrounding countryside or the sights.
