This former Benedictine monastery impresses with its magnificent architecture and Roman roots, offering a spectacular panoramic view over the glittering Douro Valley from its elevated position. The extensive grounds, with their noble, historic ambience and cool cloisters, invite you on a relaxed journey through time, while the integrated café is the ideal place for a short refreshment with a view. It is best to visit the monastery in the morning to enjoy the soft light over the river and return to the ship relaxed after an inspiring tour.

Returning to the ship

The return journey to the pier in Bitetos is extremely relaxed thanks to the manageable size of the village and the central location of the ship's pier on the Douro.

On Foot

From the historic Kloster Alpendorada or the adjacent riverbank, you can walk directly back to the pier within a few minutes. The paths are well-paved and lead you safely along the picturesque waterfront promenade to the ship.

Taxi and Transfer

For destinations in the immediate vicinity, you can find taxis at the parking lot of the Kloster Alpendorada or simply have them called by the local restaurants.
