Returning to the ship

Nagoya is one of Japan's largest ports and a significant port of call for cruises, offering excellent connections to the city center and international airports. The port features two piers: Kinjo Pier for larger ships and Garden Pier for smaller luxury liners, both of which are easily accessible via public transportation.

Airplane

Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) is the nearest international airport, located approximately 25 to 35 kilometers from the port and Nagoya city center. Thanks to the Meitetsu μ-SKY Limited Express train, you can reach Meitetsu Nagoya Station comfortably and quickly in about 28 minutes. Private shuttle services are also available, providing direct transfers to the port.

Train

From central Nagoya Station, you can reach Kinjo Pier, where larger ships dock, directly via the Aonami Line to Kinjofuto Station in about 25 minutes, followed by a short five-minute walk to the pier. For smaller ships at Garden Pier, take a JR train to Kanayama Station (approx. 3 minutes), where you can easily transfer to the Meiko Subway Line to Nagoyako Station (about 10 minutes), located just one to five minutes' walk from the pier. For exploring the city and the port, day passes such as the "Donichi Eco Ticket" (on weekends) or a 24-hour subway pass are recommended.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long journey from the DACH region, we recommend a pre-cruise hotel to start your cruise relaxed. Hotels in Downtown Nagoya or the lively Sakae district are excellent options, as they offer good connections to the train stations, making the transfer to the port on embarkation day much easier.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.

Nagoya Castle & Kinshachi Yokocho

Steeped in history, Nagoya Castle is easily accessible from the cruise port in about forty to sixty minutes and represents an absolute highlight for those interested in culture as a landmark of the city. Particularly impressive is the faithfully reconstructed Honmaru-Goten Palace with its magnificent gold-leaf doors and artistic paintings, which perfectly reflects the splendor of the samurai era. Directly in front of the castle gates, you will also find an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants in Kinshachi Yokocho, where you can enjoy the famous local cuisine ("Nagoya-meshi") in an authentic atmosphere. Ideally, start your excursion in the early morning to explore the extensive grounds at your leisure, and plan your return trip at least two hours before departure to ensure you are back at the ship on time.

Returning to the ship

Returning to the Nagoya Cruise Terminal at Kinjo-futo Pier is easy and safe to organize thanks to excellent connections.

Aonami Line and Local Transport

Trains on the Aonami Line run regularly from Nagoya Main Station directly to the final stop, Kinjo-futo. The journey takes about 25 minutes and, thanks to the elevated tracks, also offers a beautiful view of the port area for a relaxed return journey.

Taxi

Taxis are available at any time at central locations such as Nagoya Station, Nagoya Castle, and in front of major hotels like the Nagoya Marriott Associa. Thanks to the direct connection to the expressway, you can reach the terminal comfortably and without detours directly at the ship's gangway.

On Foot from Kinjo-futo Station

A clearly signposted and covered path leads from the Kinjo-futo train station to the cruise terminal in just a few minutes. The paths are generously designed and, thanks to accessibility and good lighting, are safe and easy to navigate even with hand luggage.
