Dresden Hauptbahnhof is an important hub in the German long-distance rail network with regular ICE and IC connections from many major cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. From the main railway station, you can easily reach the central piers at the Terrassenufer or Carolasee by taxi in about 10 to 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the tram lines that take you directly into the city center.
Airplane
Dresden Airport (DRS) is located around 9 kilometers north of the city center and is optimally connected. Thanks to the S-Bahn line S2, you can reach Dresden Hauptbahnhof directly in about 20 minutes. Taxis are also available and will take you to the embarkation points in about 20 to 25 minutes. For guests from further away, arriving the day before is recommended in order to start the river cruise relaxed and enjoy the beauty of Dresden beforehand.

The yellow trams of the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe form a dense network and stop at central hubs such as Theaterplatz or Altmarkt. These connections enable rapid onward travel to the Neustadt or to the historic funicular railways in Loschwitz and are easy to use thanks to clear ticket machines.
Taxi
Official taxi ranks are located in the immediate vicinity of the piers, for example at Schloßplatz or Theaterplatz. The short distances within the city area guarantee a comfortable and direct ride to the main train station or to more distant destinations such as Pillnitz Castle.

On Foot
The walk back on foot takes you comfortably across the Brühlsche Terrasse or along the Elbe promenade directly down to the piers. The paths are flat as well as clearly signposted, and thanks to the lively atmosphere of the Old Town, you can walk back on board safely and with the best view of the skyline.
