Cruise port Ocho Rios
Port information & tips for Ocho Rios
Ocho Rios is a tropical paradise on the north coast of Jamaica and is considered one of the most versatile cruise ports in the Caribbean. The region enchants visitors with its lush, emerald-green vegetation, spectacular waterfalls, and the relaxed rhythm of reggae. World-famous attractions such as the cascading Dunn’s River Falls, the Mystic Mountain adventure park, and the picturesque Dolphin Cove are located in the immediate vicinity and can be reached quickly thanks to the excellent location. Most ships dock at Turtle Bay Pier, which is located right in the heart of the town. From here, the bustling center with its colorful markets, shopping centers, and the fine-sandy Turtle Beach are easily reachable on foot in just a few minutes.
The Ocho Rios cruise port is located right in the heart of the city and is primarily accessed via the Turtle Bay Pier, which offers a direct connection to local attractions. Thanks to its central location, guests can reach the charming city center and the famous Dunn’s River Falls in just a few minutes by car.
Airplane
For travelers from the DACH region, Donald Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay is the most important destination airport, as it is served directly from Frankfurt (FRA) with Condor or seasonally with Eurowings Discover. The airport is located around 100 kilometers west of the port and offers good connections for onward travel. Alternatively, Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston can be used, which is connected to the terminal in about 90 to 120 minutes via the modern North-South Highway (A1).
Transfer & Shuttle
The most comfortable way for guests to get from Montego Bay Airport to the ship is with the organized shuttle services of the cruise lines or private transfer companies. The journey takes about 90 to 120 minutes, depending on traffic, and leads along the picturesque north coast. In addition, the reliable long-distance bus provider Knutsford Express offers regular connections between the major cities and airports, stopping directly near the cruise pier in Ocho Rios.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight time from Europe and the time difference, arriving at least one day before embarkation is highly recommended. In Ocho Rios and the surrounding area, you will find numerous resorts and hotels in all price ranges that allow for a relaxed start to your cruise. Many accommodations also assist in organizing short transfers to Turtle Bay Pier, ensuring a stress-free check-in on the day of departure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
